If I link to a book, product, course, etc. you can safely assume it's an affiliate link. That simply means I know and trust the company enough to recommend it - and they give me a "commission" for doing so. I never post an affiliate link to something I don't use and/or believe in. I never post an affiliate link that costs you more money than if you went with the product directly (and many times there's a discount).
Bottom Line: If you find it on this site, I use it...or know the creator...or believe in the product or service. Period.
Some pages and posts on this site allow for comments. While we welcome your comments, we reserve the right to remove any comments we deem inappropriate, divisive, or vulgar.
Registration and Termination
The information, products, services, and materials on our sites are provided “as is” and without warranties, expressed or implied. The only exceptions are the “guarantees of satisfaction” that are clearly labeled “guarantees” within our sites.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and information via all the reasonable steps outlined below. We will never intentionally a share or disclose the personal identification information to any third party without having received your expressed permission except in cases where we may be legally required to do so.
How and Why We Collect Information
Most of the content on our sites can be accessed without providing any personal information. However, there are a few ways in which we may collect your personal information. Please note, we only host our sites on reputable web hosts, and on many of our sites, we utilize additional security software as well.
Forms: We collect your information when there is a need to record or support your registration or participation in the activities, courses, training, or memberships you select. For example, if you register for a free email course, we will collect your name and email address so that we may deliver the course. If you purchase a product that requires registration, we will collect the information we need to process that registration and deliver that product using the preferences you supply.
Surveys: Occasionally, we will send out a survey via email, or within a blog post or page on one of our sites. We use these surveys to better understand our readers/users/members, as well as writing more helpful posts and resources that serve you better. If there is ever information in a survey you prefer not to share, simply avoid filling it out. All surveys are entirely optional and will not be required to access specific content. The exception is when a survey is presented to screen people accessing one of our forums or private social media groups to make sure all members qualify.
Cookies/Site Tracking: Our sites utilize site tracking (also known as “cookies). The definition of a cookie is “a packet of data sent by an Internet server to a browser, which is returned by the browser each time it subsequently accesses the same server, used to identify the user or track their access to the server.”
When you use any of our sites, this site tracking may also collect certain technical and routing information from you to facilitate your use of the sites and services. We use this information to understand and measure traffic patterns on the sites, so we know which areas of our sites are used most frequently, how they are accessed, and which areas need improvement. This information is collected in aggregate form, without identifying users individually. We may use this aggregate data for evaluation, analysis, marketing, or similar promotional purposes.
There are several ways you can customize how cookies are used on your particular device. Most commercial browsers (such as Chrome, Safari, Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) allow you to set preferences for whether to allow or block website cookies.
These browsers will also provide ways that allow you to remove any cookies that have already been set. Should you desire to change your cookie settings, use the “Help” functionality of your browser, or an internet search.
You can always opt out of any email, course, membership, or information sharing. Every email we send has an “unsubscribe” link at the bottom. Please note, if you are subscribed to more than one of our lists, unsubscribing via an unsubscribe link will only remove you from that list. If you wish to be completely removed from our entire database, please contact us using the Contact form on this site.
One Last Thought on Data and Privacy (not part of the legal stuff)…
If you have made it to the bottom of this page…congratulations! It means you are an over-achiever. It also means you are as concerned about your privacy as we are. Most people who read these pages are primarily concerned about two things: leaking private data and spam.
Let’s look at the second one. I (Janine) hate spam. The thought of actually being labeled a spammer makes me squirm. That’s why I make it incredibly easy to unsubscribe to any email at any time.
As for the first, we live in a crazy age. People are getting their info hacked, stolen, and sold all the time. To play my small part in the data privacy battle, I keep it really simple: I don’t collect more information than I need. Except your first name. I guess I don’t “need” your first name. But I like to keep things personal. I’d rather say “Hey James” instead of “Hey Subscriber.” I hope that makes sense.
And if you ever – and I mean ever – get an email from me that asks for you personal information, don’t open it. I’ll never do that over email. And please, forward me the email so I can make sure everything is secure on my end.
Thanks for reading.
